Webinar: capability, roles and functions to enable distributed flexibility

This webinar is open to anyone interested in the capabilities, roles, and functions necessary for the smart and flexible use of distributed energy resources.

Date: 26 September 2024 from 1pm - 2:30pm

The ENA Future Networks Forum (FNF) invites you to participate in an upcoming webinar where we will discuss a project that is helping shape the future of New Zealand’s energy landscape. As the adoption of consumer and distributed energy resources (like solar panels and battery systems) accelerates, our electricity networks must evolve to support these changes effectively.

To navigate this transition, the FNF has been working closely with Electricity Distribution Businesses (EDBs) on a project aimed at developing new capabilities, roles, and functions necessary for the smart and flexible use of these resources.

Drawing on insights from New Zealand, Australia, and Great Britain, we've identified three key roles—planning, commercial, and operations — all supported by digitalisation and a strong consumer focus.

What to expect in the webinar:

  • an overview of the work completed so far
  • key learnings from EDBs on the evolving roles of planning, commercial, and operations
  • a look ahead at how different industry architectures could shape the future capabilities of EDBs
  • seek your input on capabilities, roles and functions needed by EDBs to enable flexibility

When:
 26th Sept 1-2.30
Where: Online via Teams (free)
